Approach

My approach is integrative and includes all or some of the following:

  • Trauma informed

  • Strength based

  • Cognitive behavioral

  • Humanistic

  • Holistic

  • Mindfulness practices and techniques

Additionally, I believe that limiting patterns in thought and action are influenced and amplified by our position within social systems such as: race, class, gender, sexuality, age, ability, religion, and national identity.  Not to mention, our experiences from pre-birth, birth, childhood and adolescence.

Our calls will be supportive and relaxed. I will ask plenty of questions and will stretch you when it's safe and appropriate to do so. Together, we will combine exploration and reflection to uncover what has been stopping you from having the health and life you deserve. Once we've unearthed what needs to be healed and/or addressed, we will start the transformative work of shifting old patterns and behaviors into beliefs and actions that serve you. Step by step, we will move into a renewed version of yourself where all parts of your being and life are working in alignment with your values and desires.

Hi there!

First off, I want to congratulate you on being here. If you are reading this, you are interested in getting some support. As a seasoned and recovering avoider, I commend you for your curiosity and willingness to make positive changes in your life!

I was only 22 years old when I first learned I had liver disease, namely, cirrhosis from an unknown cause. I was in complete shock. My perception of liver disease, due to social stigma and vast mis-information, was that liver disease was solely reserved for lifelong heavy drinkers, majoritively, men over the age of 60. The diagnosis didn't make sense to me and furthermore, I didn't like it so I chose to, well, kind of pretend I didn't have a damaged liver. I was able to get away with this for quite some time but, after a very difficult year and a heavy dose of stress and self-medication, I found myself in the hospital with acute liver failure. I was severely jaundiced. I had limited cognitive function. I could barely stand from fatigue. I was 33 and I was given a 50% chance of surviving the next 3 months.

This was the turning point. I moved away from deep-seated denial into radical acceptance. It wasn't easy. I processed fear and anger and guilt and sadness. I also experienced freedom from daily human anxieties, connected with my spirituality, was overwhelmed by the unyielding support of friends and family and took on a mental determination that would keep me anchored in my healing process. I connected with a therapist and health coach to unlearn negative thought patterns and challenge my outdated and limiting beliefs, practice mindfulness and meditation, sync up and tune into my body and get clarity around my desired future. I made a choice to invest 100% into my healing process and that made all of the difference.

Whether you have been diagnosed with liver disease or a liver related illness, or are struggling with other health issues or if you are just feeling stuck and spinning your wheels in your life, I'm here to help. I've been the patient and I've been the practitioner and I know from personal and professional experience what works and what doesn't work. I'm dedicated to utilizing my wealth of history to walk beside you as you move through this chapter and into the next, more brilliant phase of your life. The best is yet to come!

To a healthy and happy you,
